Things Grow Darker in Gaza

Things grow darker in Gaza. The loss, the destruction is relentless; Palestinians say it far exceeds what we even imagine it to be. Wanton, unrestrained mass killing meted out using US-made & funded armaments & airplanes; imposed starvation; a policy to render two million people homeless; hospitals attacked & broken down in the middle of the prolonged & totalizing assault; a PTSD factory, as every Gazan knows or is kin to multiple people killed or maimed; the assault, an orphan factory, a widow factory & widower factory. Motherless children wander stunned through streets swarmed with dust and the smell of explosives. A once-vibrant society becomes a wasteland. The elusive goal of “defeating Hamas” recedes further and further as the mounds of bodies, 30,000 in 15 weeks, overtake everything, obscuring the horizon. If “Hamas is everywhere,” then everything and everybody must be annihilated: It is the logic of criminal madness, applied for thousands of years by stronger states over vulnerable people.
